We enable a successful foundation so that you can grow and succeed.
With much anticipation, I am excited to introduce Process First Consulting!
We’ve been getting some great questions from all of you. We’d love to share those along with some of our responses as an initial FAQ.

What does Process First Consulting do?
At Process First Consulting, we specialize in people and process consulting and coaching. Thinking “well that could mean so much?” You’re exactly right. We’re intentionally broad in our process and change management consulting so that we can support clients wherever they are on their journey. Our consulting supports organizations that want to set the right foundation in order to scale. Ideally during the planning phase of their strategic initiatives, digital transformations, or other initiatives.
What does it mean to be “process-first?”
We’ve coined this phrase to encompass our philosophy that process is the foundation to organizational success. Projects should begin with process optimization. Whether lead generation, sales process, fulfillment, training and onboarding, or internal best practices, every area of your business should begin with an optimized process that aligns with your business objectives. That would act as the foundation to business requirements. Only then should execution of strategy, technology implementations, or full digital transformations take place.
A Harvard Business Review article on how leaders can balance strategy and execution revealed that one of the common follies of CEOs in strategy execution is neglecting process, resulting in the “strategy remain[ing] conceptual not operational.”
We find this so often with technical implementations and digital transformations. Companies are quick to solve but do not put the proper planning in place. They might select a tool or strategy they think is the “silver bullet.” However, without having the proper processes in place, these quick actions are likely to backfire. Columbia Business School professor and global strategy expert Rita McGrath shared that discovery-driven approaches to digital transformation are the most successful. Process puts this successful foundation in place.
What is “process consulting?”
At Process First, process consulting facilitates process discovery and coaches process optimization as the foundation to any business initiative. Whether you are looking to document existing processes you have in place or whether you’re embarking on a growth initiative, working with a process consultant is in your best interest.
Through subject matter expert interviews and process mapping exercises, this practice can result in meaningful outcomes including:
Documentation of current state processes
Recommendations for process enhancements and optimization
Gap assessments between current state and future state to best align with objectives
Business requirements & user story inventory for future initiatives
What is “change management?”
Change Management is managing the people-side of change. Any organizational changes impact the individuals within your company - whether they are big or minor. In order to make change stick, people need to be bought in and brought along on the journey.
Our change management practitioners are skilled in creating change plans that tie into your project plans and assessing adoption and risk along the way.

What change management framework do you use?
We are certified in the Prosci Change Management methodology, which includes heavy use of data-backed models, like ADKAR.
While all clients have benefited from our Prosci approach, we’ve worked with organizations who leverage various frameworks from AIM to Kotter to home-grown solutions.
What type of coaching do you offer?
We specialize in career and management coaching. Our practice incorporates a customized approach that allows for a process-driven (who could have guessed, right?) method that also is customizable to your specific goals and needs. We help you where you are.
